Lafourche Parish, LA (February 1, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision on Talbot Ave near Meadows Circle left multiple people injured, including two teenage pedestrians who were struck after being dropped off by a school bus. The crash occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on January 29, according to Louisiana State Police officials.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene where they found two children, including 12-year-old Ja’Coby Garner, suffering from serious injuries after being hit by an out-of-control vehicle. Medics and air crews transported both juveniles to hospitals via helicopter for emergency care. Ja’Coby reportedly required surgery to repair a broken femur.
According to Trooper Henry Perez with the Louisiana State Police Public Affairs section, the crash happened during traffic congestion on Talbot Ave. Two vehicles were traveling northbound when a Chevy Impala attempted to pass a Honda in a no-passing zone by entering the southbound lane. When the Impala driver realized they could not safely complete the pass, they tried to return to the northbound lane but lost control.
The Impala struck the rear of the Honda, then veered off the roadway, hitting the two juveniles standing just beyond the road’s edge.
Officials confirmed that two occupants of the Chevy Impala also suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. In the Honda, four individuals, including two teenagers, sustained moderate injuries and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The identity of the person driving the Chevy Impala is still under investigation. Louisiana State Police collected routine toxicology samples from all drivers involved, which will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Our thoughts are with all those injured in this devastating crash, especially the two children who were struck. We wish each of them a full and swift recovery.
