Indianapolis, IN (February 1, 2026) – A traffic accident involving injuries caused significant delays early Saturday morning on Interstate 465 southbound near mile marker 14.5, according to dispatch reports from Marion County law enforcement.
The crash was reported around 3:34 a.m. on February 1, prompting a multi-agency response that included police, fire crews, and a towing service. Initial reports indicated that a fire truck and a wrecker were positioned facing the wrong direction in the southbound lanes, requiring temporary lane closures to safely turn the vehicles and remove debris.
Officers worked quickly to block the center and right southbound lanes near the Crawfordsville Road entrance to allow safe clearance and assist in rerouting traffic. EMS was on scene to evaluate and treat the injured, though the number of individuals hurt and the extent of their injuries have not yet been released.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash, and traffic remained impacted in the area for an extended period during the early morning hours.
