How Do Multi-Vehicle Crashes at Intersections Become More Severe?
Intersections are common locations for multi-vehicle crashes due to the convergence of traffic from different directions. When multiple vehicles enter an intersection at the same time, the risk of collisions increases, especially if drivers misjudge timing or fail to yield.
The force of impact in intersection crashes can be significant, particularly when vehicles collide at angles. This can lead to rollovers, as seen in some incidents, which increases the potential for injury.
Additionally, factors such as speed, distraction, and limited visibility can contribute to more severe outcomes. Drivers can reduce risks by approaching intersections cautiously, obeying traffic signals, and remaining aware of surrounding vehicles.
