Berkeley, CA (February 2, 2026) – A pedestrian accident at a busy Berkeley intersection left one man injured Saturday night, prompting an emergency response and an ongoing investigation. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. on January 31 at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Ashby Avenue.
According to initial findings from investigators, a man in his 60s was walking within a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an SUV traveling northbound on San Pablo Avenue. The impact caused the pedestrian to suffer a variety of injuries, including noticeable head trauma.
Berkeley Police and firefighters arrived at the scene and located the injured man conscious but bleeding from the head. Emergency medical services provided immediate care before transporting him to Highland Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. His current condition has not been publicly updated.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the accident. No additional injuries were reported, and no arrests have been announced at this time.
