Why High-Impact Single-Vehicle Crashes Can Turn Deadly
Single-vehicle crashes can become especially severe when a vehicle leaves the roadway at speed. Striking an embankment can cause a car to overturn, increasing the likelihood of serious injury or ejection. When a vehicle rolls, occupants may experience violent movement inside the cabin.
Collisions involving fixed objects, such as construction equipment, add another layer of danger. These objects do not move on impact, which can intensify the force transferred to the vehicle. In some cases, damage to the fuel system during a rollover can lead to fire.
Nighttime crashes may also carry added risk due to reduced visibility. When a vehicle overturns and catches fire, the combination of impact injuries and flames can create life-threatening conditions within moments.
