Why Rollover Crashes Often Lead to Ejection and Injury
Rollover crashes can be especially dangerous, particularly when seat belts are not used. When a vehicle overturns, occupants who are not restrained face a higher risk of being thrown from the vehicle. Ejection greatly increases the chance of serious injury.
Overcorrection is one common factor in single-vehicle rollovers. When a driver steers sharply to return to the roadway, the sudden shift in weight can cause the vehicle to lose stability. Pickup trucks may be more prone to rollover due to their higher center of gravity.
Rural roads like 207th St often have narrow shoulders and ditches. If a vehicle leaves the pavement, regaining control can be difficult. Wearing a seat belt remains one of the most effective ways to reduce injury during a rollover accident.
