How Tension-Loaded Equipment Accidents Can Occur in Connecticut
Accidents involving tension-loaded equipment, such as ratchet straps, can happen suddenly when force is released without warning. These tools are commonly used to secure heavy items, and they rely on tight tension to hold materials in place during transport or storage.
If a strap becomes worn, damaged, or improperly secured, it may fail under pressure. When this happens, the stored energy can cause the strap or its components to snap back with significant force.
Using proper equipment and checking for signs of wear may help reduce the risk of failure. Maintaining a safe distance when tightening or releasing straps can also reduce the risk of injury during use.
