What Makes Head-on Collisions So Severe?
Head-on crashes often lead to serious or fatal injuries because both vehicles may be moving toward each other at the time of impact. The combined force can result in extensive damage, especially on rural roads where speeds may be higher.
Two-lane county roads can carry added risk when there is no physical barrier separating opposing traffic. A momentary lapse in attention, drifting across the center line, or limited visibility can result in a direct collision.
Commercial vehicles such as delivery trucks are often heavier than passenger vans. When vehicles of different sizes collide head-on, those in the smaller vehicle may face a greater risk of severe injury.
