Louisville, KY (March 1, 2026) – A woman lost her life following a head-on crash on Saturday evening, February 28, in Bullitt County. The accident happened just after 7:30 p.m. along KY 44 E.
According to reports, a Toyota Tacoma driven by a teen was traveling west when the passenger-side tires dropped off the road onto a steep shoulder. The driver then overcorrected, causing the truck to cross the centerline. The Toyota collided head-on with a Ford Escape coming from the opposite direction.
The impact forced the Ford off the roadway and into an embankment. The SUV overturned and came to rest on its roof.
The driver of the Ford, 27-year-old Sarah Weisman of Shepherdsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The teen driving the Toyota was not hurt. Emergency units responded to assist at the crash site.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
What Can Happen During a Head-On Collision?
Head-on crashes often occur when a vehicle crosses the centerline or leaves its lane. These collisions can be especially severe because both vehicles are typically moving toward each other at the time of impact.
When a driver overcorrects after drifting off the road, it can cause sudden loss of control. Sharp steering movements may send a vehicle into oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a direct collision.
In many head-on accidents, vehicles may leave the roadway after impact. This can lead to secondary damage, such as rollovers or crashes into embankments. Seat belts, airbags, and road design features can affect the outcome, but these crashes often result in serious consequences due to the force involved.
