Why Head-On Collisions Often Result in Serious Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle collisions because the impact force is concentrated on the front of each vehicle. Even at moderate speeds, highway crashes can cause severe injuries to occupants.
Vehicles colliding in opposite directions can lead to traumatic injuries, including head, chest, and internal trauma. Occupants who are not wearing seat belts are particularly vulnerable.
Emergency responders often face challenges in extracting trapped passengers. Rapid removal and medical evaluation are critical to improving survival and recovery outcomes.
Road closures are typically required to ensure the safety of responders, allow for vehicle recovery, and document evidence from the crash.
