How Head-On Crashes Happen on Two-Lane Roads
Head-on crashes on two-lane roads often occur when a vehicle crosses the centerline due to distraction, fatigue, or loss of control. These roads typically have opposing traffic with limited physical separation, which increases risk.
Even at moderate speeds, head-on impacts can cause significant vehicle damage and injuries due to the direct force of the collision. Reaction time is often very limited in these situations.
Road design, driver attention, and lane discipline all play key roles in preventing these incidents. Investigations typically focus on vehicle positioning and roadway conditions leading up to the crash.
