Meridian, ID (March 2, 2026) – A man riding an electric scooter was killed Saturday night, March 1, in a hit-and-run crash on West Ustick Road near Settler’s Park.

Investigators stated that two drivers who remained at the location had their vehicles seized after striking the scooter or the rider. Witnesses indicated that one or more additional vehicles may have hit the man before leaving the area. Police said one of the vehicles that fled could be a blue SUV.
The crash remains under investigation. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
Why Are Hit-and-Run Crashes Involving Small Vehicles So Severe?
Riders on electric scooters have little physical protection in a collision. When struck by a car or SUV, they are exposed to direct impact and may be thrown onto the roadway.
At night, visibility can be reduced, especially if lighting is limited or the rider is not easily seen. Multiple vehicles in the area can increase the risk of secondary impacts if drivers do not recognize a person in the road.
In hit-and-run situations, early witness accounts often help piece together what happened. Vehicle descriptions and roadway evidence can provide key details in identifying those involved.
