Why Bicycle Crashes Near Schools Require Extra Caution
School zones and surrounding neighborhoods often see increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic, especially in the mornings. Drivers may need extra attention to notice children entering intersections or crossing streets.
Bicyclists are vulnerable because they have no protection in a collision. Even low-speed impacts can cause injuries, which is why helmets and safety equipment are recommended.
Maintaining safe speeds, obeying school zone rules, and scanning intersections carefully can help reduce the risk of accidents involving children on bicycles.
