Why Head-On Crashes Often Lead to Severe Outcomes
Roadways with limited shoulders near West Cornbread Road can restrict the space drivers have to recover if a vehicle moves out of its lane. When two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide, the force of impact can be significant.
Head-on crashes occur when a vehicle crosses the center line or enters the wrong lane. Even at moderate speeds, the combined force of two moving vehicles can cause extensive damage and serious injuries.
Factors such as driver distraction, fatigue, or sudden steering movements may lead to a vehicle drifting from its lane. Road conditions, visibility, and traffic patterns can also influence how quickly drivers react to avoid a collision.
