Why Intersections Are Common Locations for Traffic Accidents
Intersections are among the most common places for vehicle crashes because several traffic movements occur at once. Drivers may be turning, stopping, or proceeding through the crossing while watching traffic signals and other vehicles.
Even small timing errors or misunderstandings between drivers can lead to collisions. When multiple directions of travel meet in one area, the chances of vehicles crossing paths increase.
Traffic control devices such as stop signs and signals help guide drivers, but attention and safe speeds are still key factors in preventing accidents. Many intersection crashes occur when drivers misjudge the speed or distance of another vehicle approaching the crossing.
