What Can Cause a Vehicle to Lose Control on Curved Roads?
Road curves can be challenging for drivers, especially when speed or road conditions reduce traction. When a vehicle approaches a bend too quickly, the tires may lose grip, making it harder to maintain control through the turn.
Sharp curves also reduce a driver’s field of vision. This means obstacles, debris, or changes in the road surface may appear with little warning. Even small steering corrections at higher speeds can cause a vehicle to slide or leave the roadway.
Weather and road surface conditions can add to the risk. Wet pavement, loose gravel, or worn tires may reduce stability during a turn. In many crashes involving curves, a combination of speed, road design, and vehicle handling can cause a vehicle to leave the road.
