Why SUV Crashes Can Lead to Vehicle Rollovers
Sport utility vehicles have a higher center of gravity than most passenger cars. This design can increase the likelihood of a rollover during a sudden turn, collision, or impact with another vehicle.
When an SUV is struck from the side or forced to change direction quickly, the vehicle may tip or flip onto its side. Roadway speed, the angle of impact, and vehicle weight all influence how easily a rollover occurs.
Overturn crashes can create additional hazards for occupants. People inside may become trapped by vehicle damage or the vehicle’s position, requiring specialized rescue techniques from emergency responders.
Seat belts and modern vehicle safety features help reduce injuries, but rollovers can still result in serious harm due to the force and movement involved.
