Understanding Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Highways
Multi-vehicle crashes often occur on heavily traveled roadways where traffic congestion and high speeds increase the risk of chain-reaction collisions. When one vehicle suddenly slows or crashes, following drivers may have little time to react.
Factors such as distracted driving, sudden lane changes, tailgating, and reduced visibility can contribute to these incidents. Even a minor initial collision can quickly involve multiple vehicles when traffic is dense.
These crashes can also block lanes and create secondary hazards for approaching drivers. Authorities often urge motorists to slow down, maintain safe following distances, and stay alert, especially during peak travel hours, to reduce the risk of multi-vehicle accidents.
