Lima, OH (March 10, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash with injuries blocked traffic at a busy intersection in Lima.
Emergency units responded to the intersection of Jameson Ave and Rice Ave just after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. Early reports from the scene indicated that a red Kia was traveling south on Jameson when it collided with a gray SUV heading north.
Officials said the SUV was turning left onto Rice Ave from Jameson at the time of the crash. The impact occurred in the intersection, leaving both vehicles damaged and slowing traffic in the area.
The driver of the Kia was taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. The SUV driver and a child passenger were checked at the scene and chose not to go to the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
Our thoughts are with those affected as they continue to recover.
Why Left-Turn Intersections Often Lead to Traffic Accidents
Intersections where drivers make left turns often see higher crash rates than other roadway areas. A left turn usually requires drivers to cross opposing lanes of traffic, which can create a brief but risky moment if another vehicle is approaching at the same time.
Visibility, timing, and driver judgment all affect how safely these turns are made. A driver may misjudge the speed of oncoming traffic or begin the turn before there is enough space to clear the intersection. Heavy traffic and limited sightlines can make these situations harder to manage.
Traffic signals, turn lanes, and clear pavement markings are designed to help guide drivers through these movements. Even with these measures in place, intersections still require careful attention from everyone on the road to reduce the chance of a collision.
