How Head-On Collisions Often Occur and Their Risks
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of traffic accidents. They usually happen when a vehicle drifts into the opposite lane, whether due to distraction, fatigue, or unsafe passing. These collisions often result in severe injuries or fatalities because the impact combines the speed of both vehicles, creating extreme force on the occupants. Safety features such as seat belts and airbags can reduce harm, but the risk remains high. Road conditions, visibility, and speed also influence the severity of these crashes. Understanding common patterns, such as crossing centerlines on two-lane roads, helps explain why these accidents are particularly deadly.
