San Antonio, TX (March 14, 2026) – Four people were hospitalized following a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles Friday morning near downtown San Antonio, according to authorities.
Officials with the San Antonio Police Department said the crash occurred at approximately 9:14 a.m. along Interstate 35 South near the exit to Interstate 37 South in San Antonio, Texas. Investigators reported that the 20-year-old driver of the box truck sustained serious injuries. The other individuals involved were also evaluated and treated following the crash.
Officials noted that the information released so far is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues. The cause of the initial collision has not yet been determined.
We hope for a full recovery for those injured in this accident.
Chain-Reaction Crashes Can Develop Quickly on Busy Highways
Multi-vehicle crashes often occur when traffic is moving at high speeds, and drivers have limited time to react to sudden slowdowns.
Major roadways such as Interstate 35 carry large volumes of passenger and commercial traffic through urban areas like San Antonio, Texas. When one vehicle collides with another, the resulting impact can push vehicles into nearby lanes or traffic, creating a chain reaction involving several vehicles.
Investigators reviewing crashes near highway interchanges such as Interstate 37 typically analyze vehicle spacing, driver behavior, and traffic conditions to determine how the sequence of collisions unfolded.
