Medical Emergencies Can Lead to Sudden Highway Crashes
Medical emergencies behind the wheel can create dangerous situations, especially when they occur at highway speeds.
Major transportation routes such as Interstate 84 carry large volumes of passenger and commercial traffic through rural areas like Gilliam County, Oregon. When a driver becomes incapacitated, vehicles may drift from their lanes or leave the roadway entirely.
Investigators reviewing crashes like this often evaluate vehicle movement, roadway evidence, and medical factors to determine whether a health-related issue contributed to the incident.
