Why Head-On Crashes Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on collisions are among the most serious types of roadway accidents. These crashes occur when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions strike each other, often resulting in a strong combined impact.
Because both vehicles are usually moving toward each other, the force involved can be much greater than in other types of accidents. This can lead to serious injuries or fatalities, even when vehicles are traveling at moderate speeds.
Head-on crashes often occur on two-lane roads where traffic flows in opposite directions without a physical barrier. Situations such as drifting across the center line, sudden lane changes, or limited visibility may contribute to these incidents.
Roadway design, lighting conditions, and driver reactions can also affect how these accidents unfold. As a result, many head-on crashes require careful review to understand what occurred before the impact.
