How Intersections Can Contribute to Motorcycle Crashes
Intersections are common locations for motorcycle crashes due to the mix of turning vehicles and crossing traffic. Drivers may misjudge a motorcycle’s speed or fail to see it when making turns, especially at rural or less-controlled intersections.
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars, which can increase the risk of collisions in areas where multiple roads meet. Road layout, signage, and visibility conditions can all affect how drivers and riders react in these situations.
Wearing protective gear and staying alert can help reduce risk for riders. For drivers, taking a moment to check for motorcycles before turning or crossing can make a significant difference in preventing serious crashes.
