Arlington, TX (March 25, 2026) – A 6-year-old girl was killed in a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a dump truck early on Wednesday morning, March 25, on Interstate 20 in Arlington.
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 near the U.S. 287 interchange. A 2014 Nissan Sentra reportedly rear-ended a dump truck after the driver became distracted.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the young girl, who was a passenger in the Nissan, to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the Nissan and another child passenger were also injured in the crash but are expected to recover. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Investigators believe the child was in a car seat at the time of the crash, though it is unclear whether it was being used properly.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and additional details will be released as they become available. Our sincere condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
How Rear-End Collisions Impact Passengers
Rear-end crashes often occur when a driver becomes distracted or fails to maintain a safe following distance. Even at moderate speeds, these collisions can result in serious injuries, especially for passengers in smaller vehicles.
Proper use of seat belts and child restraints plays a critical role in reducing injury severity. When restraints are not used correctly, the risk of harm increases significantly during impact.
Investigators typically review driver behavior, vehicle damage, and the use of safety equipment when examining these types of crashes.
