What Happens in Head-on Collisions on Highways
Head-on crashes often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line into oncoming traffic. These incidents can result from distraction, loss of control, or other unexpected factors.
Because vehicles are typically traveling at high speeds in opposite directions, the impact force is often severe. Even a brief departure from a lane can lead to serious consequences.
Investigators review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, and driver actions to better understand how the collision occurred.
