What Is Typically Reviewed After a Head-On Highway Crash?
In head-on highway crashes, investigators typically examine lane position, roadway markings, and vehicle speed leading up to impact. They also review whether a driver crossed the center line due to distraction, impairment, or a medical emergency.
Physical evidence, such as skid marks, debris fields, and vehicle deformation, helps reconstruct the point of impact and travel paths. Road conditions, visibility, and roadway design are also assessed. These combined findings help investigators determine how and why the vehicles entered the same lane of travel.
