Head and Neck Injuries in Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes in New York
Head and neck injuries are among the most frequently reported complaints after multi-vehicle highway crashes. The force generated when several vehicles collide in quick succession can be significant, even at moderate speeds, and the impact is often felt differently by each person involved. Whiplash, in particular, is a common neck injury that may not fully show symptoms until hours or even days after the crash.
Highway crashes in New York tend to involve higher speeds than local road collisions, which can increase the severity of injuries. When multiple vehicles are involved, the chain-reaction nature of the crash means some occupants may be struck more than once from different directions. Medical professionals generally recommend evaluation after any crash involving reported head or neck pain, regardless of how minor the impact may have seemed at the time.
