Washington County, GA (March 26, 2026) – Two passengers were hurt in a UTV rollover on Tuesday, March 24, along Old Savannah Road in Washington County. Emergency units responded to the scene around 3:36 p.m. after reports of a crash involving a side-by-side vehicle.
Officials said the UTV was traveling along the shoulder of the roadway when it overturned. When crews arrived, they found the vehicle on its side with several people at the scene.
The driver was not injured, but two passengers were taken to Washington County Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities later cited the driver for driving without insurance and for operating an unauthorized vehicle on the roadway.

Why UTV Rollovers Can Happen on Road Shoulders
Roadways with limited shoulders near Old Savannah Road can restrict safe travel space. Injury accident responses in Washington County often require safety buffers to protect those involved.
UTVs are built mainly for off-road use, and driving them on paved surfaces or narrow shoulders can increase the risk of losing control. Uneven ground or sudden shifts in direction may cause the vehicle to tip.
Passenger positioning and speed can also affect stability. When a rollover occurs, occupants may be at greater risk of injury because of the limited protection provided by rollover-resistant vehicles.
