Springfield, IL (March 28, 2026) – Authorities have identified a Springfield Park District employee who died following a workplace accident at Lincoln Greens Golf Course.
According to the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office, the victim was 51-year-old Daniel Crumrine. Officials said he suffered fatal crush injuries in the incident.
The accident occurred on Thursday at the golf course’s maintenance building, where Crumrine was found underneath a mower. Emergency responders transported him to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Officials described the incident as a tragic accident and stated there is no indication of criminal activity. However, a full investigation is being conducted by the Springfield Park Police Department and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office to confirm the circumstances.
The Springfield Park District expressed that staff members are deeply saddened by the loss and extended their thoughts to the victim’s family.
