What Can Lead to Rear-End Crashes on Busy Interstates?
Rear-end crashes often happen when traffic slows or stops suddenly. Drivers who are following too closely may not have enough time to react, especially during peak travel hours or near merging areas.
Changes in speed are common at entry points where vehicles join the flow of traffic. This can cause sudden slowdowns, increasing the risk of a collision if drivers are not prepared.
Vehicle spacing, attention to the road, and speed awareness all influence the occurrence of these crashes. Even a brief delay in braking can lead to impact, particularly on highways where traffic moves quickly.
