St. Clair, MO (August 16, 2026) – A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on eastbound MO-100 at Route V. The collision happened around 1:50 p.m. on Friday, August 14, when a Freightliner attempted to cross the eastbound lanes.

According to the crash report, the front of a Honda Civic struck the rear of the Freightliner as the truck crossed MO-100. The Honda driver, a St. Clair resident, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment. The Honda sustained total damage, while the Freightliner suffered extensive damage, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review. We are keeping the injured woman in our thoughts as she continues her recovery.

What Can Cause Rear-End Crashes at Roadway Crossings?

Crashes can occur when a vehicle crosses or enters a roadway and another vehicle is approaching through the same area. Differences in speed, vehicle size, and available reaction time can affect how severe the resulting collision becomes. Larger commercial vehicles may also require more time and distance to clear a roadway.

Crash reports may record the direction each vehicle was traveling, the point of impact, vehicle damage, and whether drivers were using safety devices. Investigators may also examine roadway markings, traffic controls, vehicle positions, and physical evidence left at the scene. These details can help establish how the vehicles moved before impact and clarify the sequence of events.
