Kansas City, MO (March 29, 2026) – Three people were hurt in a wrong-way crash reported on Saturday night, March 29, at the intersection of 9th St and The Paseo. The collision happened shortly before 9:55 p.m. when a gray Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound on 9th St, which is marked as a one-way street for westbound traffic only in that area.
According to preliminary findings, the Honda entered the intersection without stopping and struck a gray Toyota Corolla that was heading southbound on The Paseo. The force of the crash caused the Toyota to roll over before it came to rest. The Toyota driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later listed in stable condition.
A front-seat passenger in the Toyota was also taken to a hospital with critical injuries and remained in critical condition. A teen passenger riding in the rear seat of the Honda was hospitalized in serious condition. The Honda driver declined treatment at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under review, including whether impairment was a factor. Our thoughts are with those injured as they receive medical care.
What Is Often Reviewed After a Wrong-Way Crash at a City Intersection?
After a wrong-way crash at an intersection, early reviews often focus on traffic direction, road signs, and whether one of the vehicles entered a one-way street from the wrong side. Investigators also usually look at whether either driver failed to stop before entering the crossing.
Vehicle positions after impact can also help explain how the collision unfolded, especially in rollover crashes. Damage patterns, skid marks, and the final resting places of each vehicle may help indicate speed and the angle of impact.
When multiple people are injured, medical updates can also provide a clearer picture of the severity of the collision. In city crashes, lighting conditions, traffic signals, and visibility near the intersection may also offer useful context as more facts emerge.
