What Details Are Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash?
After a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run, early reviews often focus on the exact roadway location, lighting conditions, and where the person was positioned at the time of impact. The layout of nearby intersections, lane markings, and shoulder space can also help provide context about how the collision may have happened.
Vehicle debris, damage left at the scene, and any nearby surveillance footage are also often reviewed in these cases. In crashes that occur before sunrise, visibility conditions such as darkness, weather, and street lighting may help explain the factors present.
Road signs, speed limits, and the presence of crosswalks or turn lanes may also offer useful background information while more facts are still being gathered.
