Hazard, KY (April 1, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision in Hazard on Sunday, March 22, resulted in two deaths and left one person seriously hurt.
The crash happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of KY-80 and Perry Circle Road. Authorities say a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Edward Reynolds of Mallie was heading westbound and attempted to turn left onto Perry Circle Road, crossing into the path of an eastbound cruiser responding to an emergency call.
The vehicles collided in the intersection, causing fatal injuries to Reynolds and his passenger, 50-year-old Crista Slone of Leburn. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was first taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a larger medical center for further treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as they become available.
