Fayette County, WV (April 1, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on Tuesday evening in Fayette County resulted in one death and multiple injuries, with authorities filing felony charges against one of the drivers.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Glen Ferris Loop and U.S. Route 60. Investigators say an SUV entered the roadway and pulled into the path of a westbound Jeep, leading to the crash.
A passenger in the SUV was transported to a hospital but later died from their injuries. The driver and passengers in the Jeep were also taken to local hospitals, though their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Authorities identified the SUV driver as Tonya Hedrick, who has been charged with DUI causing death. Officials reported observing a white powdery substance in her nostrils while she was receiving medical treatment. She was later interviewed, underwent field sobriety testing, and was transported to the Southern Regional Jail.
The crash remains under investigation as officials continue to gather details about the incident.
