Riverside, CA (April 1, 2026) – Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash on a freeway off-ramp in Riverside.
The accident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, along the Central Ave off-ramp from the southbound I-215 Fwy. According to officials, the crash involved a red pickup truck, a 2018 Dodge Ram, and a semi-truck.
Authorities said the red pickup collided with the Dodge Ram, which then struck the semi-truck. The impact caused the semi-truck to overturn on the off-ramp.
After the collision, the red pickup fled the scene. Officials said they were unable to immediately identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
Emergency units responded and transported both the driver of the Dodge Ram and the semi-truck driver to a hospital. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were the only occupants of their vehicles.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
What Happens in Multi-Vehicle Hit-and-Run Crashes
Hit-and-run crashes can create added challenges when multiple vehicles are involved. When a driver leaves the scene, it can make it harder to determine how the crash began and who was responsible.
In multi-vehicle incidents, one collision can trigger a chain reaction. A single impact may push vehicles into others, increasing damage and the chance of injury.
Freeway ramps can be especially risky because they often involve merging, slowing, or turning movements. These changes in speed and direction can increase the likelihood of crashes.
Information such as vehicle damage, roadway marks, and witness accounts may help piece together what happened. These details are often reviewed to better understand the sequence of events.
