Why Wrong-Way Crashes Are Often Fatal on Freeways
Wrong-way crashes on highways are among the most dangerous types of accidents. Vehicles traveling against traffic can collide head-on with oncoming vehicles, often at high speeds, increasing the likelihood of severe injuries or death.
Limited reaction time, driver distraction, fatigue, or impairment can all contribute to wrong-way driving. Freeway conditions, such as multiple lanes and limited escape routes, can make it nearly impossible to avoid collisions.
Early reporting, traffic alerts, and quick emergency response are critical in reducing further harm and assisting victims after these types of incidents.
