Why Pedestrian Crashes Often Happen at Busy Intersections
Intersections with high vehicle and foot traffic can be hazardous for pedestrians, particularly during early morning or low-light hours. Drivers may have limited visibility, and pedestrians may be harder to see if the lighting is poor.
Even moderate-speed impacts can cause serious injuries to people on foot. Crosswalks, signals, and reflective clothing can reduce risk, but collisions still occur when attention lapses or sightlines are blocked. Emergency responders focus on providing rapid medical care and securing the area to prevent further accidents.
Pedestrian safety depends on both driver awareness and careful crossing practices. Following signals, slowing near intersections, and staying alert can help reduce the chance of collisions.
