Sierra Vista, AZ (April 7, 2026) – Two juveniles died Tuesday morning following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Coronado Drive and Highway 90 in Sierra Vista. The collision involved a white sedan, a pickup truck hauling a trailer, and a gold sedan.
Preliminary reports indicate the white sedan was traveling north on Coronado Drive and failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle collided with a truck traveling eastbound on Highway 90, causing both to spin and strike a gold sedan stopped in a turn lane.
The crash caused the truck to overturn and catch fire. All three occupants of the white sedan were taken to a hospital, where two teens later died. The adult occupant was transferred to a Tucson facility for trauma care.
A passenger in the truck also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The identities of the deceased juveniles have not been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
How Intersection Crashes Can Lead to Severe Outcomes
Crashes at intersections often involve vehicles moving in different directions, which increases the chance of side-impact or multi-vehicle collisions. When a driver fails to obey a traffic signal, other drivers may not have time to react.
These collisions can cause vehicles to spin, roll over, or strike other cars waiting nearby. The presence of larger vehicles, such as trucks with trailers, can increase the force of impact.
Fires may occur when a vehicle overturns or sustains heavy damage. Staying alert to traffic signals and slowing down at intersections can help reduce the risk of these types of crashes.
