Why Hit-and-Run Crashes Can Be Especially Dangerous for Pedestrians
Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians often lead to severe outcomes due to the lack of immediate assistance. When a driver leaves the scene, victims may not receive help as quickly as needed, which can affect their chances of survival in critical moments.
These incidents frequently occur at night or in low-visibility conditions, making it harder for drivers to see people on the road. Areas without proper lighting or sidewalks can increase the risk for nearby pedestrians.
In many cases, identifying the vehicle involved becomes a key challenge. Investigators may rely on witness accounts, nearby cameras, and physical evidence left at the scene to piece together what happened.
