Stallings, NC (April 9, 2026) – A motorcyclist lost his life after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Stallings Rd and Guion Ln in Union County. The collision happened at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, when police said a Toyota Tacoma entered the intersection against a red light and struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Authorities identified the rider on Thursday, April 9, as Nelson Lee Graves. People nearby began life-saving efforts before paramedics arrived and continued treatment, but Graves died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota stayed at the location and cooperated with emergency units during the response. Officers said witness statements and physical evidence are still being reviewed, and investigators do not currently suspect impairment. No charges had been filed as of Thursday.

The incident remains under review by authorities. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

What Details Are Often Reviewed After a Fatal Motorcycle Crash at an Intersection?

After a deadly motorcycle collision at an intersection, early reviews often focus on traffic signal timing, right-of-way, and the movements of each vehicle before impact. These facts can help build a clearer picture of how the crash unfolded in the moments leading up to it.

Witness accounts are also commonly compared with scene evidence such as skid marks, vehicle positions, and damage patterns. In motorcycle crashes, helmet use, visibility, and lane positioning may also help explain the sequence of events.

Road layout can provide added context as well. Intersections with multiple turning points, changing lights, or limited sight distance may contribute to serious accidents. As more evidence is examined, later findings may help clarify the exact chain of events.
