What Factors Are Reviewed in Fatal Highway Crashes Involving Large Vehicles?
Highways like Interstate 89 near major exits can carry a mix of passenger vehicles and large trucks. When crashes involve both the size and weight differences, it may influence the severity of the impact.
Investigators often review vehicle movement, driver condition, and roadway conditions. These elements can help determine how the crash occurred and whether any contributing factors were present.
Long road closures may follow serious crashes. Crews need time to manage the scene, clear damaged vehicles, and ensure the roadway is safe before traffic resumes.
