What Makes Wrong-Way Driving Crashes So Dangerous
Wrong-way driving incidents often result in head-on collisions, which are among the most severe types of crashes. When two vehicles collide head-on, the combined force can cause significant damage and serious injuries.
Drivers in the correct lane may have very little time to react when an oncoming vehicle approaches. This limits the chances of avoiding the crash.
Factors such as confusion, poor visibility, or impaired driving can sometimes contribute to wrong-way incidents. Road design and signage also help prevent drivers from entering lanes incorrectly.
