Why Wrong-Way Driving Crashes Are Often Fatal
Wrong-way crashes are among the most severe types of accidents because they often result in head-on impacts. Vehicles traveling in opposite directions create a combined force that significantly increases the risk of fatal injuries.
These incidents frequently occur at highway speeds, leaving little time for drivers to react or avoid the collision. Darkness or unfamiliar road layouts can also contribute to wrong-way entry onto highways.
Head-on crashes typically cause extensive damage to both vehicles, especially in the front compartments where occupants are seated. This increases the likelihood of serious or fatal outcomes for those involved.
