What Makes Crashes Involving School Buses Especially Concerning
Crashes involving school buses often draw urgent attention due to the number of children on board. Even when injuries are limited, these situations require a careful response to check every passenger for possible harm.
Rear-end crashes with buses can happen when following drivers misjudge the stopping distance or fail to react in time. Because buses are larger and heavier, smaller vehicles may experience more damage in these types of impacts.
Safety features such as high seating positions and reinforced structures help protect passengers on buses. Even so, proper spacing, attentive driving, and reduced speeds near school transportation can help lower the risk of these incidents.
