Jurupa Valley, CA (April 22, 2026) – Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon, April 21, in a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and several other vehicles on the westbound 60 Freeway at Valley Way.
The crash occurred around 3:33 p.m. in the middle lanes of the freeway and involved a semi-truck, multiple sedans, and a pickup truck. Emergency units arrived to find the vehicles disabled and debris scattered across the roadway.
The semi-truck came to a stop and blocked several lanes, while fluids and wreckage spread into adjacent lanes, leading to a full closure of the westbound side for more than 90 minutes. All involved occupants were out of their vehicles when crews arrived.
Three people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. The roadway was cleared and reopened later in the afternoon.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
Why Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Can Lead to Full Closures
When several vehicles are involved in a crash on a freeway, the scene can quickly become difficult to manage. Damaged vehicles may block multiple lanes, while debris and spilled fluids can spread across the roadway.
Large vehicles like tractor-trailers can make the situation more complex. If a truck becomes disabled, it may obstruct key travel lanes and slow down efforts to clear the area.
Traffic volume also plays a role. Busy freeways can quickly back up when lanes are closed, increasing the time required to safely remove vehicles and restore normal flow. Cleanup efforts often include removing debris and treating any spilled fluids before reopening lanes.
