What Happens When a Vehicle Crosses the Center Line?
When a vehicle crosses the center line, it often leads to head-on crashes, which are among the most serious types of roadway accidents. These incidents can occur for several reasons, including driver fatigue, medical issues, distraction, or confusion about road layout.
Roads with two-way traffic require drivers to stay within their lanes at all times. Even a brief drift across the dividing line can create a dangerous situation, especially when vehicles are traveling at regular speeds in opposite directions.
Head-on collisions tend to cause greater damage because the impact force is multiplied. Safety features like airbags and seatbelts can reduce harm, but the risk remains high. In many cases, road design, clear markings, and driver awareness all help reduce the chances of these types of crashes.
