We extend our sincere condolences to the young man’s family and loved ones.
What Makes Rear-End Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections in Montana So Deadly?
Intersections are among the most dangerous spots for motorcyclists, even on roads with light traffic. When a vehicle ahead slows or stops unexpectedly, a motorcyclist traveling at speed has very little time to react — and far less physical protection than the driver of a car. The combination of speed and a delayed response can make even a brief lapse in attention fatal.
In Montana, where long straight roads and open conditions can encourage higher speeds, riders may underestimate how quickly a situation can change near an intersection. A vehicle slowing for a turn can appear suddenly, leaving almost no room to stop in time.
Rear-end crashes involving motorcycles consistently result in some of the most severe outcomes of any crash type, regardless of weather or road conditions.
