How Animal-Related Crashes Can Lead to Secondary Collisions
Crashes involving animals often happen quickly and leave little time for drivers to react. When a vehicle strikes an animal, it can cause sudden stops or loss of control, especially on darker roads with limited visibility. These situations can create unexpected hazards for other drivers nearby.
Secondary impacts are a common risk in these cases. A driver approaching the scene may not see the initial crash in time to slow down or change lanes safely. This is especially true at night or on roads without proper lighting.
Motorcyclists face added danger because they have less protection and stability. Even a small obstacle can lead to serious consequences, and the presence of other vehicles increases the risk of further harm.
